About

The Tara Zhingkham, located at Gelephu Mindfulness City(GMC), will be a sacred space for spiritual practices centred on Tara – the female Bodhisattva. Proposed by the Bhutan Tara Foundation, it will be one of its kind, where devotees and lay practitioners can pursue Buddha Dharma through short and extended practices - such as meditation, recitations, retreats, wellness and wellbeing programs.

Following the announcement of the vision of the world’s first mindfulness city in Gelephu by His Majesty the King of Bhutan, His Eminence Sangay Dorji, the Leytshog Lopen of the Central Monastic Body of Bhutan, proposed the idea of such a Centre. In September 2025, His Majesty the King granted the Royal Decree – approving the project.

The Tara Zhingkoed will, thus, be one of the principal monuments that will help cement Gelephu as a global Vajrayana city. This presentation deck outlines the Centre’s vision, mission, strategic focus areas, programs, and governance.
