Gelephu Mindfulness city • Bhutan

Build a Sacred Legacy in the World's First Mindfulness City

The Tara Retreat Centre will be a world-class sanctuary for Tara practice, meditation, retreat, learning, and spiritual renewal.

A Sacred Vision

In the Heart of GMC, a Sacred Vision is Taking Shape

The Tara Retreat Centre will be a spiritual sanctuary dedicated to Tara, the female Buddha, and a living centre for meditation, prayer, retreat, teaching, and compassionate practice. Rooted in Bhutan’s Buddhist heritage, it will welcome practitioners, pilgrims, visitors, and seekers from Bhutan and around the world.

The Soul of The City

Why It Matters

Gelephu Mindfulness City is being built around a bold idea: prosperity with purpose. For this vision to flourish, it needs a spiritual foundation. The Tara Retreat Centre will help give the city its soul, grounding modern growth in wisdom, compassion, culture, and mindful living.

Impact for Bhutan

Prosperity with Purpose, Rooted in Compassion

This project will support more than spiritual practice. It will help create jobs, encourage local enterprise, promote spiritual tourism, and strengthen Bhutan’s role as a global home for mindful living and Vajrayana Buddhist practice. The Centre is expected to support opportunities in hospitality, guest services, programs, maintenance, tourism, transport, food services, crafts, and local businesses.
