A Phased Path to Completion

The Tara Retreat Centre is slated for development across four distinct, synchronized phases spanning from 2026 to 2032. Designed to evolve seamlessly from foundational site preparation to a world-class spiritual and research hub, the roadmap outlines the progressive construction of key infrastructure, sacred spaces, and community facilities

2026

Preparatory Phase

  • Temporary Centre
  • Site Development
2027-2029

Phase I-a:

  • The main temple, Tara Potala, has statues of Tara, Ushnisha Vijaya, and 21 Taras, with a large Tara Hall built to hold 300-500 people
  • An adjoining Prayer Plaza that can hold 5,000-7,000 people.
  • The main avenue with a waterfall and the West Gate and visitor centre.
2028-2030

Phase I-b

  • 20 temples/retreat centres.
  • The North Gate, the South Gate and the two visitor centres.
  • TAssociated support infrastructures for monks and nuns.
2030-2032

Phase II

The Tara Centre will expand to include a longevity village that includes the following:

  • b. 21 tshamkhang (retreat cottages).
  • c. A meditation hall for 100 people.
  • d. Associated support infrastructure such as green spaces, a canteen, a gym, a clinic, etc.
  • e. A global hub for Tara research and scholarship with a large repository of books, scriptures, stone slabs, and anything related to Tara.
